Welcoming Brett Varner as General Manager of Mesa Associates

Mesa Associates is proud to announce the promotion of Brett Varner to the position of General Manager. Brett brings with him a remarkable combination of engineering excellence, business leadership, military service, and a proven track record of results at Mesa. 

In his new role, Mr. Varner will lead the company’s operations and strategic direction, continuing Mesa’s long-standing commitment to delivering high-quality engineering and consulting services to the electric power industry.

Brett has been a key leader at Mesa since joining in 2019 as Associate Vice President of Transmission and Distribution. Through his leadership and impact, he advanced to his current role as Senior Vice President of Transmission & Distribution. During his tenure, he has played a significant role in driving Mesa’s T&D business growth. Under his leadership, the engineering portfolio has expanded substantially, alongside strengthened client relationships and enhanced operational performance across the United States. 

As General Manager, Mr. Varner will oversee all business units and corporate departments, with a focus on associate development, sustainable growth, and maintaining Mesa’s strong culture of safety, quality, and client service.

Mr. Varner holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He completed executive education programs in leadership, strategy, and corporate governance. A Registered Professional Engineer in 12 states and a Project Management Professional, he brings a disciplined, people-centered leadership approach shaped by both his professional career and prior service as an officer in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps.
