Air Cooler Anomaly & Contributing Factors

Air Cooler Anomaly

In November 2023, an Alert was raised by the Anomaly Detection Engine (ADE) on the Air Cooler Output RTD Average (calculated) tag. The second contributing factor was the Cooling Water Output RTD tag, the third was Ambient Temperature, the fourth was Turbine Guide Bearing Temperature, and finally, the vibration on the Guide Bearing. When cooling is not sufficient, the other contributing factors to the Average Anomaly Score start throwing anomalies in their data that strongly correlate with the underperformance of the Air Cooler. One advantage to performing a ‘deep dive’ into the ADE’s contributing factors is that the defect’s effect on the entire machine or system becomes apparent.
