Engineering and field support services were provided by Mesa from conceptual design to implementation on a Powerhouse Crane Upgrade project. Mesa’s multi-discipline team studied the existing crane runway and powerhouse, and developed the specification to upgrade the crane. Additionally, the study included increasing the load capacity of the crane from 100 tons to 125 tons. This cost-reimbursed project was completed in 2017 and was integral to the success of the project to modernize both units at Watauga. The powerhouse crane was used to handle all major components replaced in the powerhouse during the modernization effort.
