Mesa provided engineering and design services required to install 9.3 miles of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) between a large utility client’s new OPGW splice cases. On the same transmission line, our team also provided engineering services to uprate the maximum operating temperature for 14.65 miles. The Mesa team utilized a LIDAR survey to model the configuration of the line that transitioned the OPGW fiber from one transmission line to a second transmission line. Additionally, Mesa determined that a 12 foot tower extension was required for the line rating upgrade to comply with safety standards.
