Sr. Electrical Designer, Chattanooga, TN - Req. #08-028
Responsibilities:
- Performs non-routine and complex assignments, which include responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project.
- May coordinate the design work for a project, assisting Lead Designer by directing other designers and drafters on a project as required.
- Capable of leading teams of designers and/or drafters on a single project.
- Must be knowledgeable of all drawing types required for a project, understanding their purpose, inter-relationship with other sets of deliverables, method of generation, and cost to produce.
- Manages personal task assignments, and for designated projects manages assignments of other less experienced design team members to ensure adherence to scope, schedule and budget.
- Must have an awareness of construction needs, and the ability to relate design deliverables to those needs.
- Work may involve areas lacking precedent or unusual design requirements.
- Performs design calculations, prepares material and equipment specifications, and provides preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.
- Reviews deliverables before transmitting documents to customer to ensure package is complete
- May be designated to review and check design documents prepared by others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve the more difficult technical problems related to specialty area.
- Possess aptitude for design.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess good interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
- Possess willingness to accept responsibility and ensure all output is of the highest quality.
- Possess willingness to adhere to Mesa and customer safety requirements.
- Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suites.
Education/Experience/Certifications:
- A two-year associate degree in engineering technology preferred, and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in design in specialty area.
Work Environment/Conditions:
- Normal office environment with occasional field trips to plant sites requiring ability to walk and climb stairs or ladders in a plant or industrial environment occasionally requiring occasional overnight (or longer) stays.
